Self esteem games are a great way to help build a child's self esteem.  Your child's feeling about himself when it comes to self-worth is crucial in his social, mental and intellectual development.

The goal of self esteem games is to get your child to know about himself, and more importantly, to show him that it's great to be himself.  This goal is very easy to achieve if you're working with young children under 5.  However, these self esteem games are suitable for children of all ages, the key is to use them and adjust them to suit a child's specific condition.

Self esteem games focus on positive qualities and increase a child's sense of competence.  A child can develop healthy self esteem based on this increased sense of competence.

Here are 2 examples of self esteem games you can play with your child:

Self Esteem Games Example 1:

Have a group of children each pick a name out of a hat.  For the name they choose, they should make a list of all the POSITIVE qualities they can think of about that person.  The lists are then gathered by an adult and read back to the group.

During this kind of games, a child is usually surprised and pleased to hear about the good things that are said about him.  This, however, doesn't mean he should rely on other people's opinion to validate himself.  This game is only designed to develop a child's own ability to know about himself.

Self Esteem Games Example 2:

Another way to get your child to recognize his positive qualities is, at the end of each day, have him write down something he has accomplished that day.  This can also be done in the form of a drawing.  Do this every day consecutively for 30 days.  At the end of 30 days, review with your child what they have accomplished during the last 30 days.  This is a great way to help your child develop a sense of self-worth and feel good about himself.

Self esteem games are a subtle way to get a child to develop a positive frame of mind upon which healthy self esteem is built.  Play these games with your child and you will see that this is one of the best things you can do to help him begin a journey to a great sense of self-worth.
